DIARY ENTRY

DIARY ENTRY

FORMAT OF DAIRY ENTRY

INTRODUCTION

Diary Entry or Diary Writing is a personal journal used by an individual to keep a track of day-to- day activities/ events.

Some reasons for writing a Diary Entry are:

  • to maintain a record of day-to-day activities or the events related to a day in particular
  • to express various emotions, feelings and sentiments
  • to express one's thoughts, views, philosophy
  • to help an individual cope with certain disturbing emotions and situations

IMPORTANT POINTS

  • A diary entry is always written in the FIRST PERSON.
  • A diary entry is INTROSPECTIVE in NATURE, hence, instead of simply detailing an event or activity, it must focus on expressing the writer's reaction to the event as well as the writer's feelings and thoughts in response to that particular event.
  • A diary entry must follow a logical order.
  • Ideas must be expressed in well thought out paragraphs
  • The descriptions should be vivid yet brief

MAIN PARTS OF A DIARY ENTRY

  • Introductory Sentence: is usually a comment on the day or state of mind of the writer.
  • Main Body: is an expansion of the introduction. It details the day's events and the writer's reaction to them.
  • Conclusion:this is the final remark about the day or the writer's emotional state.
  • Signing off: in first person

Monday

Finally! The day I have been dreading throughout the year has arrived. Tomorrow morning at 10:30. I would start attempting my first CBSE paper. I wouldn't deny that I am somewhat scared and nervous.

How I wish we had Mathematics tomorrow. It would have been such a relief to get over with it at the beginning. I have been suffering of anxiety fits and throwing tantrums in my stressed state of mind. I guess, I am now ready to face THE BOARDS!! Tonight, I go to bed with the hope that I would crack the boards with flying colours.

Bye for now......
Rachita
