15th August (Independent day)

National festival

Role:-India is an independent nation.  It has two major national festivals - Independence Day and Republic Day.  Both these festivals are equally revered for all the people of India.  National festival is the golden page of the history of a nation, which is as unforgettable in its form as it is inspiring.  On 15 August 1947, our country was freed from the enslavement of the British.  Independence Day is celebrated to commemorate the same liberation.

Saga of conflict:-We have not got the privilege of celebrating this festival.  We have had to struggle hard for this.  Many patriotic brave sons have sacrificed their lives.  Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi, Veer Kunwar Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Gokhale, Balgangadhar Tilak, Veer Savarkar, Lala Lajpat Rai, Vipinchandra Pal, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. Rajendra Prasad etc. only on the continuous struggle of could our country become independent.

Culmination:-We gained independence after nearly two hundred years of slavery.  All Indians were overwhelmed by the feeling of liberation.  The tricolor flag waved in the blue sky.  Our mind started flying in the free sky.  The wide earth, the rugged, dense forest, the infinite sky, all of them - all the bonds - were freed and filled with innovative joy.

Significance of the festival:-The significance of this festival is in the sense that on this day we remember those patriotic sons of our patriarchs, who, due to their exile and sacrifice, were able to cut the fetters of freedom.  This festival makes us alert that it is our moral obligation to protect freedom.

Epilogue:- Every Indian must take determination to protect India's prosperity and integrity on this day.  We should try to fill the real color of our thought and conduct freedom.
